During the construction phase, we worked closely with our customer and end users to overcome the number of challenges associated with a project of this size and complexity. Harlaxton works formed a critical part of a major construction project, meaning careful planning and coordination with other contractors was essential.
The connection point for the new supply to the existing electricity network was located 12km from site requiring careful planning of traffic management, as well as co-ordination with multiple local authorities and other contractors to ensure continuous access to the site. Due to the complexity of the project regular re-designs were necessary to facilitate the bespoke nature of the site.
Harlaxton were initially asked to carry out a feasibility study in 2011 and identified several potential issues. We worked closely with the developer, statutory undertakers, local authorities and landowners to ensure that everything was in place prior to construction commencing.
Our liaison with other external parties whilst working on the iPort, resulted in several large orders for offsite works.
The iPort scheme is closely linked to the Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council’s FARRS road scheme.
Regular meetings were held with the client, consulting engineers, principle contractors and our own in house design and technical teams, ensured smooth delivery, on time and on budget.
Our exceptional delivery on this project has resulted in an order for the on-site works.
