After all, not all utility connection providers are the same …
1. Small enough to care, big enough to deliver
As an independent family business, we are hugely passionate about what we do. We are able to build close client relationships and respond proactively to your individual needs. We are a Lloyd’s registered company achieving full Multi Utility Recognition status, led by an experienced management team and over 80 skilled and qualified team members. We also invest heavily in training and development to equip our team with the skill-sets needed to add value to your business. You are not just another client to us and our award winning service comes as standard.
2. All your utility needs under one roof
We are specialists in multi utility supply of gas, water & electricity, providing a comprehensive range of services that cover every aspect of design, supply, construction, connections, servicing and maintenance. We can complete your entire project, however large or small, from single connections to major industrial parks, using our specialised in-house capabilities. From initial design to final commissioning, our team of expert engineers are on hand to co-ordinate and deliver ‘turnkey’ packages to meet your needs.
3. Self sufficient
We are one of only a handful of companies that have direct connections to an Independent Distribution Network Operator (IDNO) and Independent Gas Transporters (IGTs) in the UK, whom are regulated by OFGEM, meaning we develop, operate and maintain local electricity and gas distribution networks. So you don’t have to work with an impersonal incumbent Distribution Network Operator, Gas Transporter or Statutory Authority. We can circumnavigate a way through industry regulations and you can have confidence in us for present and future installations and maintenance.
4. In house legal teams
We cut through all the red tape. Our own team of legal experts can ensure all the relevant permissions such as wayleaves, easements and transfers or leases are in place to enter landowners’ land to install equipment, cabling and/or pipework and then inspect maintain and repair it. And everything we do is fully compliant with the relevant legislative and industry standards.
5. No jargon – just common sense
We have decades of experience within the utilities sector – we ‘get’ what works already and are on the ball with the latest developments and requirements in this regulatory complex, ever-evolving sector. We can deliver electric, water and gas utilities at the same time in the same trench by the same construction team and can align our workflow to yours, saving you time and money. We speak your language.
6. Challenging industry norms
You’ve heard the saying “If you always do what you’ve always done, you will always get what you’ve always got”? That’s not the case with us. We re-engineer and problem solve to develop alternative solutions rather than accept the ‘norm’. We are not afraid to question and to ask you ‘what if’, in order to find innovative ways to get things done. So many times we see jobs unnecessarily over spec’d, so we always conduct a full load assessment to determine your actual requirements. Our regulatory knowledge and expertise ensures we deliver the utility infrastructure you really need.
7. Adding value not cost
Because we offer an end to end solution and do all the work in house, we ensure you get the best advice, service and expertise, with clear, transparent pricing – and there won’t be another sub-contractor in sight! Our team aligns with yours and takes full responsibility for a timely, cost-effective project. From start to finish. And, if necessary, after completion. We’ll work beyond the project scope and challenge and change the way things are done to create efficiencies for you.
8. Flexible
At Harlaxton, we have designed and managed hundreds of projects with many variations and special requirements. Whether you need a 33kV Grid Connection, a power supply upgrade, a temporary builder’s supply or a single connection, the team at Harlaxton are equipped to flex to your needs. We also provide flexible client orientated plans to minimise onsite time and disruption, along with completing all contestable works such as High Voltage/Low Voltage Operational Switching activities, Water Inline Connections and Gas Routine Operations. And we hold an extensive stock of standard distribution cable, switchgear and transformers so we are not awaiting long lead items from suppliers, adding to our flexible capabilities to self-assemble a package substation overnight to most upstream Distribution Network Operators specifications.
9. We jump to it!
We won’t cut corners but we know time is money so have the ability to react very quickly. From a fast turnaround of quotations through to a timely delivery of survey, design and construction phases, we handle everything in house and don’t rely on third parties or contractors to get work done. We also provide an operational single point of contact to make communication smooth and seamless throughout the project.
10. Trusted and reliable
From start to finish, we liaise with all statutory bodies to ensure a fully accredited final result. Dealing with multiple issues from various providers for an array of needs can be an operational nightmare. We can deliver your project with every product and service you require, bringing everything together under one roof. One provider, one utility contractor one bill, saving you time, money and headaches.
“We have built our business and reputation on referrals and repeat orders by offering bespoke packages for utilities installations which our competitors cannot match. Many of our clients get in touch because they have been unable to realise their vision using their current network operator and we take great pride in having so many success stories where we have been able to offer a solution that others before us couldn’t deliver.” Lucy Hibbert – Harlaxton
